Role:Web Developer - Waltham, MA (Boston)
3 months contract
Programming Consultant: We are looking for a strong, independent “can-do” developer who thrives in a small yet fast-paced environment. This person will be responsible for developing and supporting new and existing products with a very strong experience in MySQL database.
Responsibilities:
Design, modify, develop, test, deliver and support new and existing software products
Work in 2-3 person teams on multiple projects at once
Report on project status, estimate work requirements, create project plans and timelines
Communicate with clients on technical issues
Exhibit grace under pressure when clients demand the impossible
Requirements
BS in Computer Science or higher (or impress us with your background and training)
Thorough MySQL, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Unix/Linux knowledge and experience is a *must* (My client is not a Microsoft shop)
Experience with large databases (20+ tables, many millions of records) is important
Strong experience with AJAX/Web 2.0 technologies also very important, with emphasis on jQuery, HTML5, etc.
3+ years experience in a business software development environment
Familiarity with software development life-cycle methodologies
Strong English communication skills, verbal and written
Bright, disciplined, detail-oriented; structured and organized in approaching work; able to multi-task
Ability to work independently with little supervision in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
Displays sense of humor and lack of hubris – prima donnas/hackers/wizards need not apply
Any of these are strong pluses:
UI/web design skills (esp. CSS/JavaScript)
Financial services industry experience (i.e., strong knowledge of retirement planning, education funding, and/or benefits communications fields)
Experience with security aspects of software development (e.g., SSL/encryption protocols, SOX, PCI, GLBA, penetration and security testing tools)
Solid analytical skills
