Position : Financial Analyst/ Accountant Analyst
Location: New York
Duration: 6+ months contract
The Consultant will be responsible for (but not limited to):
· Preparing Journal Entries and supporting documentation
· Developing and preparing financial reports/schedules by analyzing accounting data and researching applicable industry practices
· Facilitating the preparation and filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual filings requirements
· Researching and resolving technical accounting questions and significant variances
· Developing and assisting in process improvements associated with individual responsibilities and workflows impacting the multiple organizations.
· Ensuring assigned general ledger accounts are reconciled and variances are documented
· Preparing ad-hoc analysis and reporting in response to management inquiries
· Assisting in the design and testing of key controls, as well as remediation of key control design and operating deficiencies as required by external and internal stakeholders
Skills
The successful Consultant will have the following:
· Degree in Accounting in required, CPA preferred
· Public Accounting Experience is a plus
· Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
· Strong accounting, analytical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
· Experience in month-end, quarter-end, and annual close processes
· Sound understanding of Accounting and General Ledger procedures
· Exposure to GAAP, Statutory (Insurance), SOX compliance requirements
· Insurance Experience preferred
· Experience in SAP or other G/L systems, preferred
Strong academic credentials, ideally graduate level, and an executive caliber in-person presentation are a must, as are superior written and verbal communications skills.
